This was highlighted by Blockaid.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8Community Alert <br \/>Blockaid&#8217;s exploit detection system has identified an ongoing exploit on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StablREuro?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@StablREuro<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>~$2.8M extracted so far.<\/p>\n<p>Both tokens are depegged: 0x50753cfaf86c094925bf976f218d043f8791e408 (StablR Euro) <br \/>and <br \/>0x7b43e3875440b44613dc3bc08e7763e6da63c8f8 (StablR USD) on\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Blockaid (@blockaid_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/blockaid_\/status\/2058372418557595890?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 24, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The attack on the smart contracts of the two coins \u2014 EURR and USDR \u2014 was also <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/investigations\/329\">reported<\/a> by the well-known on-chain investigator ZachXBT. According to his information, the perpetrator funded the operation through the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-cross-chain-bridges\">cross-chain bridge<\/a> CCTP on the Noble platform from the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-cosmos-atom\">Cosmos<\/a> ecosystem.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary findings from Blockaid experts suggest the hacker compromised the private key of one of the multi-signature owners for minting coins. Due to a weak threshold (1 out of 3), the attacker needed only one account to gain full control over the system. Consequently, he:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>added himself as an owner and replaced two other legitimate participants;<\/li>\n<li>issued 8.35 million USDR and 4.5 million EURR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The coins, with a nominal value of about $10.4 million, were exchanged on decentralized exchanges for 1115 ETH (~$2.8 million) due to low liquidity.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis is not a bug in the smart contract \u2014 it is a failure in key management and governance,\u201d concluded Blockaid specialists.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>They, along with ZachXBT, noted that the StablR team did not respond to the attack for at least several hours.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the incident, the company&#8217;s stablecoins lost their peg to the underlying assets. At the time of writing, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/currencies\/stablr-euro\/\">EURR<\/a> is trading at $0.93 (-20% from nominal), while <a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/currencies\/stablr-usd\/\">USDR<\/a> is at $0.97 (-3%).<\/p>\n<p>The euro-based coin&#8217;s market capitalization is $10.9 million, and the dollar asset&#8217;s supply is approaching $20.7 million.<\/p>\n<p>In May, there have been at least a dozen attacks on crypto projects. Among the affected are <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/market-maker-trustedvolumes-hacked-for-6-million\">TrustedVolumes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/thorchain-team-reveals-details-of-10-million-hack\">THORChain<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/hackers-extract-11-5-million-from-verus-protocol\">Verus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/echo-protocol-suffers-816000-hack\">Echo Protocol<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/polymarket-confirms-private-key-compromise\">Polymarket<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Back in April, the industry <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/april-sets-record-for-crypto-industry-hacks\">set a record<\/a> for the number of hacks \u2014 over 20 incidents in a month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European issuer of stablecoins, StablR, has fallen victim to a hack resulting in the theft of at least $2.8 million.
