{"id":97655,"date":"2026-05-29T10:35:02","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T07:35:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=97655"},"modified":"2026-05-29T10:40:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T07:40:10","slug":"analog-quantum-computer-launched-in-barcelona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/analog-quantum-computer-launched-in-barcelona\/","title":{"rendered":"Analog Quantum Computer Launched in Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scientists at Spain&#8217;s Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) have <a href=\"https:\/\/quantumcomputingreport.com\/qilimanjaro-deploys-an-analog-quantum-computer-at-the-barcelona-supercomputing-center\/\">commissioned<\/a> the Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech analog quantum computer.<\/p>\n<p>The installation is part of the EuroQCS-Spain project. It is integrated into the MareNostrum-Ona hybrid platform alongside the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer.<\/p>\n<p>The system is categorized as an analog adiabatic quantum processor. A contract between EuroHPC JU, Qilimanjaro, and integrator Do IT Now was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurohpc-ju.europa.eu\/signature-procurement-contract-eurohpc-quantum-computer-located-spain-2025-01-28_en\">signed<\/a> in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The project costs \u20ac8.5 million, co-financed by EuroHPC JU and Spain&#8217;s State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Access to the system will not be limited to BSC specialists. The infrastructure will be available to European researchers and companies through EuroHPC JU and the Spanish Supercomputing Network procedures.<\/p>\n<p>The first version includes at least 10 physical qubits. Future generations are promised to increase the number of qubits and coherence time.<\/p>\n<p>The new installation has strengthened BSC&#8217;s quantum capabilities.
