{"id":97798,"date":"2026-06-01T17:04:50","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T14:04:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=97798"},"modified":"2026-06-01T17:05:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T14:05:15","slug":"citi-forecasts-tokenization-market-to-reach-5-5-trillion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/citi-forecasts-tokenization-market-to-reach-5-5-trillion\/","title":{"rendered":"Citi Forecasts Tokenization Market to Reach $5.5 Trillion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Citi analysts anticipate that the market for <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-rwas-real-world-assets\">tokenized<\/a> securities will grow to $5.5 trillion by 2030, according to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2026\/06\/01\/citi-predicts-the-tokenized-securities-market-will-grow-to-usd5-5-trillion-by-2030\">CoinDesk<\/a> referencing the bank&#8217;s report Tokenization 2030: Wall Street On-Chain.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the segment is valued at approximately $17 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Citi&#8217;s base scenario projects a range of $2.7-8.2 trillion, depending on the pace of adoption. The bank estimates that by 2030, 10% of short-term U.S. Treasury securities and 3% of the U.S. public equity market could transition to blockchain. Citi believes <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-stablecoins\">stablecoins<\/a> could generate additional demand for U.S. government bonds up to $1 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the bank had issued more cautious forecasts. In the report Money, Tokens, and Games, it was projected that <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/citi-estimates-tokenized-securities-market-at-4-trillion-by-2030\">$4 trillion<\/a> of tokenized financial and real assets would be in private markets by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, analysts estimated the market for tokenized stocks at $4-5 trillion and around $1 trillion in trade finance and collateral segments. Citi is already testing the infrastructure. In November 2024, the bank, along with Fidelity International, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citigroup.com\/global\/news\/press-release\/2024\/citi-and-fidelity-international-demonstrate-tokenized-money-market-fund-and-digital-foreign-exchange-swap-solution\">launched<\/a> a pilot with a tokenized money market fund and a digital currency swap.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, Citi forecasted the segment to grow to $400 billion by 2030.
