Following this, the asset&#8217;s prices began to recover from a significant decline.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9gaPMvTc9G\">https:\/\/t.co\/9gaPMvTc9G<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Josh Swihart \ud83d\udee1 (@jswihart) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jswihart\/status\/2063763238928671118?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 7, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to Swihart, the fix was implemented in two phases. Initially, the team conducted a soft fork to temporarily disable transactions in Orchard. This reduced the risk of bug exploitation without prematurely disclosing technical details.<\/p>\n<p>The second phase was the NU6.2 hard fork, activated on June 3. After the update, the pool&#8217;s functionality was fully restored.<\/p>\n<p>The critical flaw in the <span data-descr=\"Proof-of-Concept\" class=\"old_tooltip\">Proof-of-Concept<\/span> scheme of Orchard was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/zcash-drops-48-following-critical-network-vulnerability-fix\">discovered<\/a> by independent researcher Taylor Hornby during an audit for Shielded Labs. The bug theoretically allowed for unlimited fake issuance of <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/the-illusion-of-succession\">ZEC<\/a>. However, Shielded Labs stated that actual exploitation of the vulnerability was unlikely.<\/p>\n<p>Following the disclosure on June 4, the price of the privacy coin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/zcash-drops-48-following-critical-network-vulnerability-fix\">plummeted<\/a> by more than 50%. The incident sparked criticism from community members. Notably, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CryptoHayes\/status\/2062723034369458520\" title=\"\">announced<\/a> the complete liquidation of his position in the token.<\/p>\n<p>In addressing the aftermath, ZODL coordinated with mining pools ViaBTC and Foundry, as well as exchanges, to conduct code reviews of the fixes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We not only solved the problem but also practically tested incident response processes, strengthening the network&#8217;s resilience,&#8221; Swihart emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of writing, ZEC is trading at $429.08.
