This was confirmed by the agency&#8217;s head, Gary Gensler, in his statements following the approval of Bitcoin funds, according to the Morgan Creek co-founder.<\/p>\n<p>Another obstacle, Yusko notes, is that the Commission may still consider Ethereum a security. Bitcoin, however, is clearly classified by the agency as a commodity.<\/p>\n<p>The head of BlackRock, one of the potential issuers of a spot exchange-traded fund based on Ether, Larry Fink, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/blackrock-ceo-recognizes-value-in-spot-ethereum-etf\">acknowledged<\/a> the &#8220;value&#8221; of such products from a tokenization perspective. However, he expressed doubt that digital assets will ever become currencies.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC&#8217;s decision to approve exchange-traded Bitcoin funds has <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-commissioner-criticizes-approval-of-spot-bitcoin-etfs\">faced criticism<\/a> or skepticism from some top officials.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Risks Associated with Bitcoin ETF Approval<\/h2>\n<p>Industry experts <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/experts-highlight-risks-of-spot-bitcoin-etfs\">highlighted specific risks<\/a> that these investment products pose to the ecosystem of the first cryptocurrency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/arthur-hayes-explores-arbitrage-opportunities-following-bitcoin-etf-launch\">noted<\/a> that spot exchange-traded crypto funds allow for various strategies at the intersection of the digital asset market and <span data-descr=\"traditional finance\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TradFi<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Yusko believes that the emergence of Bitcoin funds will sharply reduce the volatility of the underlying asset and, consequently, its potential returns. He believes the cryptocurrency will reach this level by the halving, as miners need to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coinshares-evaluates-bitcoin-miners-prospects-post-halving\">maintain breakeven<\/a> in cryptocurrency mining.<\/p>\n<p>After the block reward is halved, the price is expected to adjust upwards and likely reach &#8220;six-figure values,&#8221; the investor suggests.<\/p>\n<p>However, he predicts that price movements will be less sharp compared to previous cycles.<\/p>\n<p>Following the approval of spot exchange-traded funds, Bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-dips-below-43000-amid-etf-criticism\">experienced a correction<\/a>, falling below the $43,000 level. Analysts pointed <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-faces-potential-correction-to-38000-analysts-warn\">to the risk of a decline<\/a> to levels near $38,000.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, some market participants expect the cryptocurrency to grow significantly after the halving. Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee suggested that the price could <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tom-lee-predicts-bitcoin-surge-to-500000-within-five-years\">reach $150,000<\/a> by the end of 2024. Over a five-year horizon, he forecasted a price up to $500,000.<\/p>\n<p>CEO of ARK Invest, Cathie Wood, offered a more optimistic estimate \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/cathie-wood-predicts-bitcoin-could-reach-1-5-million-by-2030\">$1.5 million by 2030<\/a>.
