According to the data provided, World App is used by 5 million users monthly, 3.5 million weekly, and 2 million daily. The app has processed a total of 70 million transactions.
“The success of World App by TFH is encouraging as it provides efficient access to the protocol. We hope this will encourage other participants to develop additional wallets for the protocol, as different users have different needs and preferences. […] In other words, the Worldcoin community is interested in alternatives to World App so that as many people as possible can interact with Worldcoin,” said Remco Bloemen, head of the blockchain department at Worldcoin Foundation.
Worldcoin achieved these results in less than a year since its launch in June 2023. By July, registrations had exceeded 2 million. In February 2024, the team announced reaching 1 million daily active users in World App.
The project’s main product, the World ID protocol, is based on zero-knowledge proofs. It serves as a tool allowing people to undergo identification using biometric data or a phone number.
The launch of Worldcoin has raised data protection concerns among regulators in several countries. Notably, the project has attracted attention in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Argentina, and Kenya.
Previously, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in Hong Kong reported suspicions regarding the project for potential violations of information storage provisions.
The Spanish regulator demanded that the company immediately cease collecting personal data in the country. In response, its representatives stated that the project operates “legally in all available locations” and fully complies with information collection and transfer requirements.
Earlier, the crypto community sent donations to a farmer in Kenya to buy goats. It all started when he shared that he purchased an animal with tokens WLD (~$100) received after verification in Worldcoin. The goat was named after the project’s co-founder, Sam Altman.
