Bitcoin White Paper Restored on Bitcoin.org After Court Ruling

The Bitcoin white paper has been restored on Bitcoin.org following a court ruling that Craig Wright is neither Satoshi Nakamoto nor the document’s author.

This was announced by Bitcoin.org representative Hennadii Stepanov. The crypto community welcomed the news with enthusiasm, with users posting excited comments in response to the announcement.

In January 2021, Wright demanded that Bitcoin.org and Bitcoincore.org remove the Bitcoin white paper, accusing them of copyright infringement. The owner of Bitcoin.org, Cobra, refused.

In April, the High Court of London allowed Wright to file a lawsuit against Cobra. In June, the self-proclaimed creator of Bitcoin won the case. The judge prohibited the defendant from infringing Wright’s copyrights in the UK.

In March 2024, British judge James Mellor ruled that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto or the author of the Bitcoin white paper. The case brought by COPA began in 2021.

Additionally, Mellor suspended two other cases involving the “pseudo-Satoshi,” including proceedings against Coinbase and Jack Dorsey’s Block. COPA described the decision as a “victory for developers and the entire community.”

In May, the judge caught Wright committing perjury during the proceedings. Mellor expressed complete confidence that the defendant “repeatedly lied to the court” in his testimony.
