Uzbekistan Detains Binance User for Five Days

In Uzbekistan, a resident of Tashkent has been detained for violating cryptocurrency regulations. This was reported by the local publication Repost, citing the court’s press service.

According to the publication, 25-year-old J. A. conducted 23 transactions involving the purchase and transfer of digital assets amounting to 7768.66 USDT on the Binance cryptocurrency exchange.

His actions violated existing legislation, as he did not possess a license to operate as a service provider in the field of cryptocurrency circulation.

The accused admitted guilt during the court session and requested leniency. He was sentenced to five days of administrative detention. The court also ordered the destruction of the confiscated Redmi Note 9 smartphone.

In June, a 24-year-old student in Uzbekistan was detained for 10 days for selling the NOT token of the Web3 gaming project Notcoin. The court also ordered the destruction of the Galaxy A30 smartphone and the bank card used for the transactions.

Earlier, Uzbek authorities threatened local users of Hamster Kombat with detention and fines. Such penalties could be imposed if in-game currency is withdrawn to cryptocurrency exchanges and exchanged for fiat.

In Uzbekistan, the illegal acquisition, sale, or exchange of cryptocurrencies is prohibited. Such activities are punishable by administrative detention for up to 15 days or a fine ranging from 20 to 30 BCV.
