Former Executives from Apple, Google, Meta, Tesla, and X Join Worldcoin

Tools for Humanity (TFH), the company behind the Worldcoin project, has appointed four former senior executives from Apple, Google, Meta, Tesla, and X to leadership positions.

Damien Kieran has joined the firm as Chief Privacy Officer, having previously held the same position at X.

Former Director of Information Security for Android at Google, Adrian Ludwig, and former Head of Identity for Google Payments, Ajay Patel, have taken on corresponding roles at TFH.

In recent months, the biometric identification project has faced increased scrutiny from regulators in several countries concerned about the protection of citizens’ personal data. Authorities in the UK, France, Germany, and Argentina have shown interest in Worldcoin’s activities.

Portugal and Spain have ordered a halt to data collection. In December, the company disabled iris-scanning orb verification in India, Brazil, and France.

Rich Heley, who held leadership roles at Apple, Meta, and Tesla, has become Worldcoin’s Director of Devices. He will oversee the development and enhancement of the orbs.

Back in May, despite the investigation into the project in Argentina, TFH co-founders Sam Altman and Alex Blania discussed potential investments in the country with newly elected President Javier Milei.

In Kenya, the prosecution ordered the closure of the case against Worldcoin without further police action.
