
McDonald’s Instagram Hacked to Promote Fake Meme Coin
On August 21, a hacker known as India_X_Kr3w breached the Instagram account of fast-food giant McDonald’s and the X-account of the company’s marketing director, Guillaume Huin, to promote a fraudulent meme token called GRIMACE.
McDonald’s official Instagram account was suspected to have been hacked, claiming that it had issued the Meme token “GRIMACE” on Solana. The post claimed that GRIMACE was supposedly a “McDonald’s experiment” on the Solana network, accompanied by the token’s smart contract address. Both messages have since been deleted.
Following the post, the asset’s price surged more than 60-fold to $0.1, with a market capitalization reaching $25 million. At the time of writing, the meme token is trading at $0.0004028 with a market cap of $404,000, according to Gecko Terminal.
In the Instagram profile header, the hacker expressed gratitude for “$700,000 in Solana.”

According to posts on the X-account of India_X_Kr3w, the hacker plans further similar attacks.
Earlier, ForkLog reported that the Jupiter team discovered a malicious Chrome extension, Bull Checker, aimed at stealing assets on the Solana network.
Back in July, the X-account of rapper Doja Cat was hacked to promote a scam token.
