The identification of affected clients is based on Proof-of-Address (POA). Beneficiaries must reside in one of the 25 cities in Northern Vietnam that were “most affected.”
Users who completed POA by September 10, 2024, will receive $50 in BNB.
Considering some did not complete the identification in time, Binance will also distribute $20 in BNB to all users in the region who registered before September 10 and complete POA by September 30.
The first batch of donations will be sent to the victims’ accounts on September 16.
“We would like to express our deepest condolences to those affected by the devastating Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam. We hope our efforts can bring some relief to the victims. We stand in solidarity with the community members and hope the community can soon recover from this disaster,” stated Binance CEO Richard Teng.
According to a blog post, the company has already initiated several charitable initiatives in Vietnam, such as launching a saltwater filtration system and purchasing medical equipment.
In September 2023, Binance donated $3 million in BNB to users affected by the earthquake in Morocco.
In the same month, the exchange allocated $500,000 in BNB to flood victims in Libya.
