Microsoft Introduces AI Agents for Enhanced Productivity

Microsoft Corporation is set to launch AI-powered tools designed to send emails, manage documentation, and perform other tasks on behalf of employees.

In November, the ability to create autonomous AI agents using Copilot Studio will be available. Additionally, ten specially configured neural networks have been introduced to “enhance capabilities in sales, service, finance, and supply chains.”

“Think of agents as the new apps for an AI-powered world. Every organization will have a constellation of agents. They will be able to provide simple prompts, answers, and work fully autonomously on behalf of a person, team, or function, executing and organizing business processes,” the company blog states.

These neural network-based tools can analyze work data in Microsoft 365 Graph, systems of record, Dataverse, and Fabric to perform various tasks such as IT support, employee onboarding, and acting as a personal concierge for sales and service.

Among the ten agents created, examples include:

  • Sales agent — analyzes leads, helps prioritize, and directs customer interactions with personalized emails and responses;
  • Supplier relations agent — optimizes supply chains;
  • Support service agent — capable of studying customer issues and improving the process of dealing with them.

More agents are planned for development next year.

Earlier in October, Microsoft unveiled an updated version of the AI assistant Copilot, featuring voice mode and screen image recognition.
