Etherscan Team Enhances Blockchain Explorer API
The developers at Etherscan have released a beta version of v2, featuring a unified API for accessing data from over 50 EVM blockchains.
The supported networks include Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, and Arbitrum, along with their associated testnets such as Sepolia and Goerli, among others.
This initiative aims to simplify the creation of multichain dapps by providing a single point of blockchain data management. The transition will reduce developers’ overhead and enhance application efficiency.
The API features a unique code for user identification and authentication. Essentially, the tool functions as a digital ID badge, granting access to API services or data.
In Etherscan, API keys protect both the service and the user, preventing unauthorized actions and allowing interaction with approved users.
Compared to v1, v2 optimizes access to multichain data through the chainID parameter in the API. This allows developers to specify the target blockchain within a single interface, eliminating the need for multiple API keys and different configurations for each network.
A single API key reduces setup time, simplifies code, and maintains backward compatibility with v1. This eliminates issues related to the disruption of existing applications and associated services.
Back in June, developers introduced a beta version of the AI-based Code Reader tool for analyzing the source code of smart contracts.
