Mt.Gox Transfers $35 Million in Bitcoin from Cold Wallet
The bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange Mt.Gox has transferred approximately 500 BTC (~$35 million) to an unknown address. The transaction from the platform’s cold wallet was recorded by the service Arkham.

In May, Mt.Gox began moving its bitcoin holdings for the first time in five years, with the amount then estimated at 137,892 coins valued at $9.35 billion.
In July, the exchange’s trustee commenced compensation payments to users through authorized platforms. By the end of the month, Kraken and Bitstamp reported receiving and distributing assets.
However, ForkLog discovered that the reimbursement process is not proceeding smoothly.
According to Arkham, on August 21, Mt.Gox sent 1264.7 BTC ($75.36 million) to Bitstamp.
Conversely, Kraken returned 127.6 BTC ($8.07 million) to the platform on September 24.
The last major transfer to an unmarked address was recorded on August 20. Subsequently, Arkham analysts recognized the movement of 13,265 BTC ($784 million) as an asset distribution among Mt.Gox’s storages.
At the time of writing, the exchange’s wallets hold 44,905 BTC, amounting to $3.12 billion.
Mt.Gox’s management has postponed the final deadline for compensation payments to October 31, 2025.
