Second Season of Hamster Kombat Triggers New Scam Wave
The announcement of a new season for the Telegram clicker game Hamster Kombat has triggered a wave of spam from fraudsters. This is reported by Izvestia, citing data from Kaspersky Lab.
In their messages, hackers impersonating the game’s developers offer participation in an airdrop of HMSTR tokens valued between $300,000 and $3 million.
The attached link leads to a malicious site that requires the connection of a cryptocurrency wallet. The permissions requested, if approved, grant attackers full access to players’ assets.
Fraudsters are also creating phishing pages linked to the clicker. In October, BI.ZONE experts identified 241 domains containing the word hamster.
According to the updated roadmap of Hamster Kombat, the second airdrop is scheduled for spring 2025.
Back in June, analysts from F.A.C.C.T. recorded two fraudulent campaigns targeting clicker players on Telegram.
Meanwhile, the project is rapidly losing its player base—since its listing in September, it has decreased by 88%, from 300 million to 36.3 million users.
Earlier, the developers of Hamster Kombat hinted at the imminent launch of the second season and commented on the decline in HMSTR’s price.
