
AI-agent token market cap drops nearly 17%
Over the past 24 hours, the AI-agent token segment’s market capitalisation fell 16.6% to roughly $11.4bn. The broader crypto market declined only 6%, according to CoinGecko.
Most coins tied to AI assistants have been in a deep correction since the start of the year. The category’s aggregate market value fell 30% over the past seven days.

The ai16z token lost more than 50% over the period, with its market cap tumbling to $1.08bn.
Virtual Protocol (VIRTUAL) dropped 44.9%. At $2.28, its market cap stands at $2.3bn.
For the segment leader — Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET) — the decline has approached 26%. The token trades around $1.17, with market capitalisation just over $3bn.
AI-themed memecoins show a similar pattern — over the week their combined value fell by roughly 40% to $5.9bn. At the start of January, the figure topped $11bn.
The two segments overlap considerably. For example, ai16z ranks first among memecoins by market cap.
Earlier, Dragonfly managing partner Haseeb Qureshi said he was confident that AI agents would become the crypto community’s main narrative in 2025.
