Anthropic Secures $1 Billion for Enhanced Voice Features
AI startup Anthropic is set to release a two-way voice mode for its chatbot Claude, along with a memory function to retain more information about users and past conversations. This was announced by the firm’s CEO, Dario Amodei, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The company also plans to introduce “smarter” models in the coming months. It was taken aback by the surge in demand for neural networks, prompting a reassessment of its computational capabilities.
Meanwhile, Google has allocated an additional $1 billion to Anthropic, increasing its stake in the firm. This was reported by the FT, citing sources.
The new investment supplements the $2 billion previously invested. Google has entered into a business agreement with Anthropic, which includes the use of a suite of online tools and services.
Earlier reports indicated that the AI startup aimed to raise $2 billion with a valuation of $60 billion.
In 2024, Amazon supported Anthropic with a $4 billion investment.
According to media reports, the AI startup’s annual revenue reached $1 billion, a tenfold increase from the previous year. However, investors do not expect profitability from Anthropic or its competitors in the near future. They are making a long-term bet on technology that could generate trillions of dollars.
Back in December, Anthropic released a new AI model, 3.5 Haiku, for users of the Claude chatbot platform.
