This option is made possible with the support of the payment network Mercuryo and in collaboration with The Open Platform infrastructure platform for developers within The Open Network (TON) ecosystem.
“The offer will help Wallet achieve its goal of accelerating the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies by providing the simplest way for those who have not yet become natives in the space,” the team stated.
Tether added support for the TON network for USDT in April 2024. According to the issuer’s data, the stablecoin’s supply on the blockchain exceeds $1.16 billion coins.
Wallet noted that over the past year, approximately 4.5 million app users conducted transactions with USDT.
In January, TON developers reported that 36.2 million crypto wallets were created on the network in 2024 — 55 times more than the previous period. They cited the integration of USDT as a key factor in this surge.
Earlier, on January 21, Telegram and TON Foundation announced an exclusive agreement that requires integrated Web3 applications to use the TON network exclusively.
The community viewed this as strengthening the network’s “monopoly” within the messenger’s ecosystem.
