Russia Initiates Crackdown on ‘Dropovods’ and Crypto Exchanges

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting a nationwide operation to gather information on cryptocurrency transactions and establish a new registry. The list will include ‘drops, dropovods, arbitrageurs, crypto exchanges, and P2P,’ according to the Telegram channel Cartesius channel.

Special attention is being paid to ‘dropovods’—from network players to independent participants in the resale of bank cards.

The operation also targets teams servicing online casinos and other platforms using P2P channels. Crypto exchanges, regardless of their size or operational format, are also under scrutiny by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The aim is to enhance the Ministry’s efforts to hold such participants accountable under Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (‘Illegal Turnover of Payment Funds’).

Earlier, in Russia, development began on a platform to track cryptocurrency exchanges through drops.
