Lukashenko Endorses Construction of Mining Farms in Mogilev Region

In the Mogilev region of Belarus, preparations have commenced for the construction of cryptocurrency mining farms. This initiative has received the backing of the country’s president, Alexander Lukashenko. The announcement was made by Anatoly Isachenko, the chairman of the regional executive committee, as reported by Belta.

Isachenko stated that the region possesses suitable sites with sufficient energy capacities. According to him, the preparation of these sites is underway to conduct tenders and attract investors.

Last year, a project to establish the first large-scale mining farm with Chinese investors began in the Krichev district. The construction is expected to require 190 million Belarusian rubles, with the first phase slated for completion in 2025.

Previously, the Mogilev regional executive committee discussed with the government plans to create new facilities based on the existing power grid, including utilizing the capacities of a transformer substation.

In March, Lukashenko proposed to Energy Minister Alexey Kushnarenko to focus on developing cryptocurrency mining in the country.
