Google Enhances Flagship AI Model Gemini 2.5 Pro
Google has released an updated version of its flagship AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, with “significantly improved” programming capabilities, particularly for “creating compelling interactive web applications.”
We just dropped Gemini 2.5 Pro (I/O edition). It’s our most intelligent model that’s even better at coding.
Now, you can build interactive web apps in Canvas with fewer prompts.

Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition) excels at code transformation—modifying snippets to achieve specific outcomes. It is available through the Gemini API, Google Vertex AI platforms, and AI Studio. The pricing remains the same as for Gemini 2.5 Pro.
The release precedes the annual Google I/O developer conference (hence the “I/O edition” name), where the company will unveil a range of new solutions.
Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition) leads the WebDev Arena Leaderboard—a benchmark measuring a model’s ability to create aesthetically pleasing and functional web applications.
It also demonstrates advanced performance in video comprehension, achieving 84.8% in VideoMME.
Gemini 2.5 Pro “excels” in frontend development.
“For developers already using Gemini 2.5 Pro, the new version will not only enhance coding performance but also address key developer feedback, including reducing errors in function calls and improving the frequency of function call triggers,” noted Google in a blog post.
In May, Google added the ability to upload and edit images in the Gemini chatbot app.
Previously, the company integrated the Veo 2 video generation AI model into Gemini for Gemini Advanced subscribers.
