Ethereum Foundation Allocates $32.6 Million in Grants for Q1
In the first quarter of 2025, the Ethereum Foundation allocated a total of $32.6 million in grants to ecosystem projects and initiatives.
Under the Ecosystem Support Program, the foundation reports allocations every three months.
From January to March, support was directed towards public and educational events, zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP), and consensus layers.
Out of 101 grants, 36 were directed towards community and educational initiatives. Recipients of funding include creators of educational content, conference organizers, boot camps, and hackathons such as ETHPrague and ETHiopia.
Sixteen projects focused on improving developer experience and tools.
Several startups are dedicated to the accessibility of Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIP) and language support libraries.
Fourteen grants were awarded to projects in the cryptography and ZKP category. Seven funding recipients focused on execution layers, while another seven concentrated on consensus. Nine are engaged in protocol, overall growth, and network support.
Thirteen projects fell into the “other” category, covering areas such as DeFi, dapps, stablecoin infrastructure, and business development.
On May 7, Ethereum activated the Pectra upgrade—the network’s largest update by the number of proposals.
The next hard fork, named Fusaka, is scheduled for the second half of the year (September-October).
