Users Accuse Grok of ‘Consulting’ with Musk

During the presentation of Grok 4, Elon Musk stated that the ultimate goal of xAI is to create an AI that is “maximally truth-seeking.” Some users on X have discovered that the neural network relies on the entrepreneur’s posts on X.

This includes topics such as the conflict between Israel and Palestine, abortion, and immigration legislation.

These observations suggest that Grok 4 has been specifically tuned to consider the political views of the head of xAI when responding to contentious issues.

Previously, the billionaire declared that his startup would rewrite “all human knowledge” to train a new version of the chatbot, as there is “too much garbage in any base model trained on uncorrected data” today. AI specialist Gary Marcus compared Musk’s plan to a dystopia.

Later, Grok became more categorical and began issuing controversial and contradictory statements. xAI noted that it is working on removing inappropriate publications.

TechCrunch asked Grok 4 for its opinion on immigration to the US and found that the chatbot, in its chain of thoughts, “sought Elon Musk’s views” on the topic.

The reasoning chains created by AI models to explain their answers are not entirely reliable indicators of how they arrive at their conclusions. However, they are generally considered a reasonably good reflection.

Journalists have repeatedly found that Grok 4 relies on Musk’s views in its reasoning.

In its responses, the chatbot attempts to provide a balanced position, offering multiple perspectives on delicate topics. However, it ultimately expresses its own opinion, which aligns with Musk’s stance.

In July, Grok outperformed ChatGPT and DeepSeek in programming.
