Apple’s CEO Vows to Triumph in AI

During a meeting with employees, Apple CEO Tim Cook declared that the company “must” succeed in the realm of AI. This was reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

The meeting took place shortly after the earnings report. The top executive informed investors and analysts about a significant increase in investments in artificial intelligence.

“Apple has to do it. It will do it. It’s like our chance—and we will take it,” Cook told employees.

Despite the launch of various AI features under the Apple Intelligence initiative, promised improvements to the Siri voice assistant have been delayed. Cook seemed to acknowledge the company’s lag behind competitors.

“We have rarely been first. There were PCs before Mac, smartphones before iPhone, many tablets before iPad, players before iPod. But it was Apple that created the modern versions of these categories. I think the same about AI,” he noted.

Cook compared the development of artificial intelligence technology to the advent of the internet, smartphones, cloud computing, and apps. He urged employees to more actively integrate neural networks into their work:

“Each of us is already using AI, and as a company, we must use it. Otherwise, we will fall behind, and that is unacceptable.”

Back in March, Apple’s senior director overseeing Siri, Robbie Walker, described the delays in releasing key AI features for the voice assistant as “nasty and shameful.”
