The insurer will receive fiat money after exchanging digital assets through the cryptocurrency company Bitcoin Suisse.
“Our company does not own bitcoins. The settlement amount in Swiss francs will be calculated in real time. Thanks to Bitcoin Suisse we are not exposed to financial risk,” explains Atupri’s head of marketing and sales, Caroline Meli.
Atupri Health Insurance serves about 200,000 customers annually. The company’s revenue in 2019 amounted to almost $887 million.
“As pioneers of digital technologies in healthcare, we anticipate social trends and offer insurance solutions with long-term prospects. Blockchain and cryptocurrencies are becoming increasingly important,” Ms. Meli said.
Bitcoin Suisse holds assets worth more than $1 billion. In May, the crypto broker added custody services and staking for Tezos (XTZ). In June, the company closed a Series A round, raising CHF 45 million (over $48 million).
In 2021, Bitcoin Suisse plans to conduct an STO with a view to listing on a stock exchange.
