Roger Ver: Everyone Should Have a Second Passport

On the YouTube channel of Migronis founder Anatoly Letayev, there was интервью with Bitcoin.com founder Roger Ver. “Bitcoin Jesus” spoke about promoting a free economy, the future of cryptocurrencies and buying a second citizenship as a way to safeguard assets.

Roger Ver is a crypto enthusiast and one of the leading supporters of Bitcoin Cash. In 2014 he renounced U.S. citizenship and acquired a Saint Kitts and Nevis passport for Bitcoin.

In an interview with Anatoly Letayev, Roger Ver spoke about the reasons that led him to this decision:

«Once, millions believed the Earth was flat. Today, many people want to obtain American passports, considering America the best place to live. I believe that each person should determine what is best for them. For some, moving to America can indeed be beneficial, but that does not mean that everyone needs American citizenship. A large number of Americans annually renounce their passports.»

According to Ver, the U.S. government underreports the statistics on renunciations of citizenship.

«My name is not on the list of those who have renounced citizenship. Nor are the names of my friends. I believe that about 100,000 Americans renounce their passports each year. Appointments to discuss this matter must be waited for several months. What could be the reason besides the high demand to renounce citizenship?» — he commented.

Currently, Roger Ver is a citizen of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

«I am satisfied with this citizenship: I managed to obtain the passport in a short time and at a favorable price. I can travel to almost all European, Asian and South American countries without visa procedures. Another advantage is the ability to pay almost everything in Bitcoin.»

He spends only a few months a year on Saint Kitts and Nevis. For the rest of the year, Ver visits other countries to promote the idea of economic freedom. In Ver’s view, it cannot be achieved without using digital currencies.

Despite the advantages of living in Saint Kitts and Nevis, Roger Ver plans to obtain a second citizenship:

«Everyone should have a second passport. The direction of state policy can change at any moment. Having a second passport is a way to safeguard oneself from the tyranny of the state,» he noted.
