Mari El resident loses over 1 million rubles in cryptocurrency bid

A Volzhsk resident reported to the police the theft of funds she had intended to invest in cryptocurrency trading. 

According to the МВД, the victim found an offer to earn from cryptocurrencies on social media. The fraudsters contacted her and explained to her an “investment scheme”.

Over the course of a month, the victim transferred 1,150,000 rubles to unknown individuals.

“When the woman realised that the trading was not taking place, and that she herself had become a victim of scammers, she stopped answering the trader’s calls and reported it to the police,” the Interior Ministry said.

Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case into fraud.
