Beeple NFT buyer reveals identity
The user, known by the pseudonym Metakovan, who bought the non-fungible token (NFT) by artist Mike Winkelmann, has revealed his identity. His name is Vignesh Sundaresan [Vignesh Sundaresan].
We could have remained pseudonymous, but we decided to drop a few hints with Christie’s, and a few more in Clubhouse. Now here’s the story of how crypto gave two Indians the chance to take part in the largest #NFT sale in history. https://t.co/cQ4LdovRzO

He said that naming his name was to show Indians and ‘people of colour’ that they too can achieve success. In his words, the cryptocurrency industry levels everyone.
According to Sundaresan’s profile on LinkedIn, he is the chief executive officer of consulting firm Portkey Technologies and co-founder of the cryptocurrency ATM provider BitAccess.
The work went under the hammer for $69.3 million at Christie’s. The final bid stood at $60.3 million, but commissions were included in the price. The auction house noted that this made Winkelmann one of the most valuable living artists.
Everydays: The First 5000 Days is a collage of thousands of Winkelmann’s works published online since 2007. The auctions were announced on February 16.
In late February Beeple’s NFT featuring Trump was resold for $6.6 million. In December 2020 the artist earned $582,000 for Crossroad.
Earlier, Tesla boss Elon Musk declined to sell a song about NFTs in NFT form, for which Beeple had offered $69 million.
