Yaroslavl police identify suspect in theft of four mining rigs

Investigators from the Yaroslavl region’s police have uncovered the theft of four mining rigs used for cryptocurrency mining. A 33-year-old local resident is suspected of the crime.

According to investigators, he knew in advance that the outbuilding housed mining equipment worth more than 1.65 million rubles.

During the search, law-enforcement officers located the stolen rigs.

The theft has been classified as a particularly large-scale theft. The suspect faces up to ten years in prison.

Earlier in February, a resident of Mari El received 4 years in a penal colony for the theft of a mining rig worth 600,000 rubles.
