Blockchain.com relocates US headquarters to Miami
The cryptocurrency exchange Blockchain.com announced the relocation of its US headquarters from New York to Miami and an expansion of its footprint in Florida.
As part of its scaling plan, the company intends to hire 100 employees by the end of the year and another 200 in 2022. It noted that the move was prompted by Miami’s favorable regulatory framework.
According to the press release, Blockchain.com will also expand its product range and support the local STEM community through educational programs.
“The Internet will be the world’s largest economy by 2030, and cryptocurrency—the financial system built to support it. Miami recognises the potential of the industry, and we hope to contribute to the city’s rich innovation ecosystem,” said Blockchain.com CEO Peter Smith.
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez noted that the move by the Bitcoin exchange “captures the essence of the city’s movement.”

In early May, Suarez disclosed his investments. He said that such a decision followed the US Senate approval of the $1.9 trillion economic relief plan.
Earlier in February, Moore Strategic Ventures, Google Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and other investors backed Blockchain.com in a $120 million funding round.
Subsequently the exchange raised $300 million, boosting the valuation of its business to $5.2 billion.
In May, Blockchain.com acquired Artificial Intelligence Exchange, the developer of an order-matching and reconciliation system for OTC trading.
