Google Trends: Interest in Bitcoin Falls to November 2020 Levels
According to Google Trends, the number of searches for the word ‘Bitcoin’ fell to mid-November levels of last year. At that time the first cryptocurrency traded around $16,000.

The index fell by 68.5% from this year’s peak, reached on May 16 (23 versus 73; the highest reading—100—was recorded in December 2017).

For ‘Ethereum’, the peak in search volume occurred at the start of May this year. Then the second-largest cryptocurrency traded above $4,000. Since then the indicator has fallen 71%, and the price — about 50%.

Even rarer are searches for the leading Ethereum exchange Uniswap. Its peak in Google Trends also came in early May — when the developers launched the third version of the protocol.

Similar dynamics are seen for ‘Coinbase’. However, in this case the peak of activity came in the first half of April, amid the listing of the American company on the Nasdaq stock exchange.

In January, interest in Bitcoin in Argentina twice exceeded the 2017 levels.
