Hollywood to Produce Thriller on Satoshi Nakamoto

Doug Liman to direct "Killing Satoshi," a film on Bitcoin's creator.

Doug Liman, director of “The Bourne Identity” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” is set to work on the film “Killing Satoshi,” which explores the conspiracy surrounding the creator of Bitcoin. This was reported by Variety.

Casey Affleck and Pete Davidson will star in the leading roles. Details about their characters remain under wraps.

“I love David and Goliath stories. ‘Killing Satoshi’ tells how unlikely anti-heroes battle the most powerful people on the planet in an epic struggle that touches the very essence of money and who controls it,” said the director.

Liman noted that this is “not just a film about Bitcoin,” and it aims to explain the essence of the first cryptocurrency.

The creators emphasized that the film will resemble “The Social Network” about Facebook. The thriller about a global conspiracy will unveil the story of cryptocurrency’s emergence in the classic style of Hollywood blockbusters.

The film “weaves together political intrigue, high-tech espionage, and a race against time, as forces worldwide, including governments, Wall Street, and Silicon Valley, engage in a total struggle for control.”

The British company Production Lens is working on “Killing Satoshi.”

In October 2024, HBO had already released a documentary on Satoshi Nakamoto titled Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery. The film named programmer Peter Todd as the creator of Bitcoin. He denied the claim and reported a threat to his personal safety following the release.

Earlier in September of the same year, the premiere of a film about the cryptocurrency Ethereum and its founder Vitalik Buterin, created by Optimist studio, took place.
