AMC Theatres, the largest cinema chain, adds Dogecoin support

The AMC Theatres chain, the largest cinema chain in the United States, has added the option to pay for gift cards with the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin, according to chief executive Adam Aron.

AMC digital gift cards with a face value up to $200 can be paid with Dogecoin or other cryptocurrencies via the BitPay wallet. The option is available on the AMC website, in the mobile app, or in theatres.

Earlier, Aron launched a poll on Twitter about adding Dogecoin support. At the time of writing, more than 140,000 people had participated, of whom 68% supported the proposal.

Earlier in August, AMC announced selling tickets for Bitcoin, and in September promised to implement support for Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.
