Media: Bitmain to release new Antminer with 150 TH/s hash rate

The ASIC miner manufacturer Bitmain will release the Antminer S19XP model based on TSMC 5nm chips. The new generation of devices will provide a hash rate of 150 TH/s at an energy efficiency of 21.5 J/TH, according to journalist Colin Wu.

Shipments are expected from July through September 2022.

The current flagship S19Pro, based on 7nm chips, offers 110 TH/s at 29.5 J/TH. The model consumes 3250 W versus the expected 3225 W in the S19XP.

According to sources The Block, the S19XP will be unveiled this week at a Dubai mining conference. Ahead of that, the device was presented to key customers.

Update:

Bitmain officially unveiled the S19XP. The parameters differ somewhat from those previously listed — 140 TH/s, 21.5 J/TH and 3010 W.

In May, Bitmain placed an order with TSMC for 5-nanometer chips for its equipment.

Back in September 2020, one of Bitmain’s founders, Micree Zhang, announced plans to release miners based on 5-nm chips.
