Jordan Peterson Invests in Bitcoin After Talk With Saifedean Ammous

The philosopher and professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, Jordan Peterson, said he “bought some more Bitcoin” after speaking with economist Saifedean Ammous on his podcast.

“I enjoyed it. I learned a lot. I bought some more Bitcoin. Inflation be damned,” he wrote.

In his conversation with Peterson, Ammous noted that the first cryptocurrency manages to preserve true decentralisation, since in its network “there are no insiders and no administrators.” The author of the book “A Short History of Money, or Everything You Need to Know About Bitcoin” called it “an immaculate conception.”

“Bitcoin has only users — no administrators. No one has a master key. … Ultimately, what drew my attention to Bitcoin is that it is neutral money that no one can control,” the economist said.

In monetary policy, Ammous emphasised that, from the perspective of Austrian School of Economics, money is a market product, and therefore government intervention is “irrational.”

“Government intervention in monetary affairs is irrational and cannot be successful for the same reasons centralized planning fails. It is also the primary cause of most economic problems that worry economists everywhere,” he explained.

Earlier in May Ammous criticised Tesla to stop accepting Bitcoin for the sale of electric vehicles.
