
Nearly $114,000 in Bitcoin Seized from Uzbek Drug Traffickers
Uzbekistan’s State Security Service has dismantled a drug-trafficking ring in Tashkent, according to local media.
During searches of the suspects, authorities seized various synthetic and chemical substances, and $113,770 in bitcoin was confiscated.
The authorities have opened a criminal case; the investigation is ongoing.
Previously, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Kirov region accused drug traffickers of money laundering through cryptocurrencies.
In August 2021, a hacker breached a major forum for drug trafficking in the CIS and put up for sale data on the organizers and users of the platform for bitcoins.
