FTX announces plan to issue a Visa debit card and opens a waitlist

The cryptocurrency exchange FTX announced plans to issue a Visa debit card and opened a waitlist.

FTX Visa users will be able to pay worldwide using their exchange balances in digital currencies. Assets will be automatically converted into the required fiat amount at the moment of payment.

“This will allow you to keep your cryptocurrency,” noted FTX.

The exchange said it would not charge transaction fees, but warned of possible third-party charges.

Previously Visa approved the launch of such a payment solution with several crypto companies, including Binance, Bakkt, BlockFi, CryptoSpend and Ledger.

Earlier, the American exchange Gemini and the Australian platform CoinJar released cryptocurrency cards with Mastercard support.

A company-conducted survey showed that in 2022 40% of its customers planned to use digital assets.
