Alchemy, the infrastructure blockchain platform, raises $200m at a $10.2bn valuation

Alchemy, the infrastructure blockchain platform that positions itself as the Amazon Web Services of the crypto world, raised $200m in a late-stage Series C round, valuing the startup at $10.2bn.

The funding round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Silver Lake. Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue and Pantera participated as well.

valued at $3.5bn in October 2021 as part of the Series C main close.

In April raised $80m at a $505m valuation.

Earlier, the funds raised were directed toward launching the Web 3.0 University, the venture arm, and expanding the functionality of the free developer version of the platform.

“We are only at the early stages of Web 3.0 and blockchain implementation. We will continue to develop the ecosystem,” the press release says.

According to the firm, the number of platform clients has tripled since October, and transactions totaling more than dapps built with its tools surpassed $60bn.

Founded in 2017, the company provides a broad range of tools for building decentralized exchanges and NFT platforms: from node management to the so-called application-performance monitoring.

Alchemy initially focused on Ethereum, but later broadened the range of blockchains it supports, adding Layer-2 solutions from Polygon and Flow.

NFT marketplaces built on the platform include OpenSea, Dapper Labs, NBA Top Shot and SuperRare. Alchemy’s services are used by Coinbase, unnamed leading investment banks and multinational corporations such as Adobe and PwC.

Earlier, the NFT-game developer Animoca Brands raised $358.9m. The company’s pre-money valuation was $5bn.
