Peter Thiel names Bitcoin’s main enemies, calls Buffett a ‘sociopathic grandpa’ from Omaha
PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, during remarks at the Bitcoin 2022 conference, presented a “list of Bitcoin’s enemies.” CNBC reports CNBC.
The list includes prominent financiers who, in Thiel’s view, are seeking to hinder Bitcoin’s development.
“Enemy No. 1” is the legendary investor Warren Buffett. The businessman described him as a “sociopathic grandpa from Omaha.” Berkshire Hathaway, led by Buffett, is headquartered there.
The investor has repeatedly been sceptical about cryptocurrencies, describing Bitcoin as “rat poison squared” and a gambling instrument that produces nothing of value.
Besides Buffett, Thiel’s list also included JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink. The businessman believes they should allocate part of their funds to buying Bitcoin.
Thiel also criticised central banks, accusing them of slow adoption of digital technologies.
According to him, the rise in Bitcoin’s price over the past few years signals the looming bankruptcy of central Banks and suggests that “we are at the end of the era of fiat money.”
As a reminder, Peter Thiel has long been a supporter of Bitcoin. Last year he said he regretted not investing enough in the leading cryptocurrency.
