S&P Downgrades Coinbase Rating and Keeps Negative Outlook

The S&P Global Ratings agency downgraded Coinbase’s corporate credit rating from “BB+” to “BB”, while maintaining a “negative” outlook. CoinDesk reports this.

Analysts cited weak revenues and competitive pressure as the basis for the decision.

“This year the company’s market share declined. Combined with the increased risk of margin compression, the volatility of revenue, EBITDA and EBITDA margins relative to previous assessments, this forced us to reassess the financial risk,” the experts explained.

The rating action was also driven by “uncertainty regarding the duration of the crypto winter and the potential for further declines in market share,” they added.
