Bitcoin Magazine published a video showing a food order via an electronic kiosk and subsequent payment in cryptocurrency through a mobile app.

On the terminal, in addition to the Bitcoin symbol, there is the logo of the stablecoin Tether (USDT).

Earlier in March, the Lugano authorities announced that digital gold, USDT and the LVGA city token would be de facto legal tender in the city. The information emerged at the Plan ₿ conference, attended by Mayor Michele Foletti and CTO Paolo Ardoino of Tether.

The move followed a joint initiative to turn Lugano into the European Bitcoin capital, which the parties announced in February.

As part of the blockchain-hub development collaboration, Tether said it would allocate no less than 100 million Swiss francs (~$107 million) to a dedicated fund. Local authorities allocated 3 million Swiss francs (~$3.21 million) for these purposes.

In addition to financing local blockchain startups, the funds are intended to support the integration by businesses of tools associated with the plan into day-to-day operations.

Earlier in September 2021, McDonald0s outlets in El Salvador began accepting Bitcoin as payment following the entry into force of the law legalising the country0s first cryptocurrency.
