Top Finiko executive Edward Sabirov detained in the UAE
On 30 November, the UAE Interpol National Bureau announced the arrest of another organizer of the Finiko pyramid, Edward Sabirov. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office intends to seek the extradition of the Russian citizen and has asked the UAE authorities to remand him in custody for 60 days.
A source in law enforcement said Sabirov was part of the pyramid’s top management.
On 6 September in the UAE, the co-founder of Finiko Zygmunt Zygmuntovich was detained.
Founder Kirill Doronin has been in custody since late July 2021.
The remaining Sabirov, who remains at large, has been placed on an international wanted list and arrested in absentia. The total number of defendants in the Finiko case reached 22 people.
Earlier prosecutors opened a criminal case against Finiko for fraud on a particularly large scale. The total damage from the pyramid’s activities, according to independent estimates, exceeds $4 billion. The number of victims is at least 850,000 people.
Earlier, Kirill Doronin, as part of a deal with the investigation, gave testimony against 44 accomplices. At the same time, he did not plead guilty and denied embezzlement.
