WonderFi confirms talks to acquire Coinsquare

The DeFi platform WonderFi Technologies, backed by television personality Kevin O’Leary, confirmed that it is in preliminary talks to acquire the Canadian cryptocurrency exchange Coinsquare. говорится in a press release.

On January 12, BNN Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the parties were discussing a potential deal.

“[…] the company acknowledges that it has held preliminary talks with various third parties regarding both potential acquisitions as well as regarding [Coinsquare]. These discussions are preliminary and ongoing,” according to a WonderFi statement.

Representatives emphasised that they cannot guarantee any outcomes of a potential deal and declined to comment further until an agreement is reached.

In September 2022 Coinsquare announced the acquisition of the publicly traded cryptocurrency exchange CoinSmart. However in January 2023 the latter announced that the deal was terminated.

Earlier, WonderFi acquired Canadian Coinberry for $30 million. The company said it would acquire Coinberry a week after it announced listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

In November 2022 Coinsquare acknowledged a data breach affecting users.
