NFT community to raffle trip to Japan to meet the Dogecoin mascot

From May 3 to 7, Dogecoin enthusiasts will travel to the Japanese city of Sakura to meet Kabosu, the Shiba Inu who became the meme’s icon and the face of the cryptocurrency. This was reported by Decrypt.

The event is organised by the NFT community Own the Doge, with support from Doge DAO, created by PleasrDAO.

The pilgrimage, as the organisers call it, includes visits to dog-themed temples and statues in Tokyo, go-karting, and dinners with geishas. They will then travel to Sakura for a direct meeting and a walk with Kabosu. There, too, they will see the site of the future bronze Doge statue, for which Doge DAO had previously raised $100,000.

The event’s guest of honour will be Kyle Craven, the face of the 2010 meme Bad Luck Brian. For those wishing to remain anonymous, masks bearing Kabosu will be provided.

Applications are being accepted via the Google form. It asks applicants to reveal their true motives for undertaking the pilgrimage, whether a photo with Kabosu or a meal with her owner.

The organisers will run a draw, the winner of which Doge DAO will cover the cost of the trip and airfare (up to $5,700). To participate in the lottery, users must own at least one DOG token — the fractional part the famous Doge NFT, purchased by PleasrDAO for 1969.6 ETH. The price of a single pixel at the time of writing is roughly $48.

Earlier in February, PleasrDAO put up for auction the sofa from the original meme Doge, to raise funds for the humanitarian organisation Save the Children. It was sold for 21 ETH (less than $35,000 at the time of the sale).
