Boerse Stuttgart Digital Unit Blocknox Obtains Crypto Custodian License
Blocknox, part of Boerse Stuttgart’s digital division, has obtained a cryptocurrency custodian license from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). This is reported in пресс-релизе.
BaFin’s approval means that the sixth-largest stock exchange in Europe will be able to offer institutional investors services for trading and custody of digital assets.
Among the organisations that are expected to use the offering are banks, brokers, asset managers and family offices.
“Our platform is a universal service for brokerage, trading and custody of cryptocurrencies, fully regulated by BaFin,” said Matthias Felkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart.
In April 2022, Commerzbank, one of Germany’s largest banking groups, submitted a similar application.
Earlier in November, BaFin reported a ‘limited’ interest from local banks in cryptocurrencies. At that time, only four institutions had received a license from the regulator to store digital assets.
