MetaMask adds security alerts to Web3 wallet extension

The MetaMask team, in partnership with Blockaid, has introduced security alerts in the browser extension Web3-wallet.

The feature is designed to proactively prevent malicious transactions, protecting users from scams, phishing and hacking attacks.

The representatives of the companies expect that security alerts will help protect users’ crypto assets from theft.

In the desktop version of the app, users can already enable the solution through ‘experimental settings’, but the official launch of the new feature is planned for November.

MetaMask has more than 20 million active users per month, making the cryptocurrency wallet the most popular in the world.

Blockaid, the startup founded by former members of the Israeli army’s cyber-intelligence division, closed a $33 million Series A funding round in October.

In April, the MetaMask team added an option to purchase cryptocurrency with fiat.

In September, the developers added the ability to cash out digital assets to a bank card or PayPal account.

In the same month began open beta testing of the cross-chain protocol Snaps, aimed at expanding the app beyond EVM-networks.
