Anthropic Introduces New Versions of Claude: AI Agent and Healthcare Tools

Anthropic introduces Cowork, a user-friendly version of Claude Code.

Anthropic has developed a new tool called Cowork, positioned as a more accessible version of Claude Code.

The service is integrated into the Claude Desktop application. It allows users to specify a particular folder where the bot can read or modify files. Further instructions can be provided through the standard chat interface.

The service resembles an isolated version of Claude Code but requires significantly less technical knowledge to set up.

Cowork is built on the Claude Agent SDK. It uses the same base model as Claude Code.

The folder division allows for easy management of files accessible to the new tool. Since the application does not require a command line or virtual environment, it is less complex for users without technical expertise.

Initially, Cowork is available to Max subscribers. A waiting list has been launched for users on other plans.

The service opens up “a new world of potential use cases.” Anthropic provided an example of compiling an expense report from a folder of receipt photos. Claude Code users employ the system for media management, social media post scanning, or conversation analysis.

Cowork is designed to perform a range of actions without user intervention. This carries certain risks if the tool receives unclear or contradictory instructions.

Anthropic warned of the possibility of sudden command inputs or file deletions. The company recommends using clear and unambiguous prompts.

Launched in November 2024, Claude Code became one of the firm’s most successful products. It allows the use of the Claude AI model directly within the development process, rather than as a separate chat.

Healthcare

Following the presentation of ChatGPT Health by OpenAI, Anthropic announced the release of Claude for Healthcare — a set of tools for healthcare providers and patients.

The service allows synchronization of health data from smartphones, smartwatches, and other platforms. It can:

• process electronic medical records, clinical reports, medical histories, lab data, and treatment instructions;
• summarize lengthy texts;
• extract key data from records;
• prepare reports and explanations;
• answer questions using medical sources.

Anthropic added “connectors” that allow AI to access platforms and databases to expedite research and report generation.

“Doctors often report spending more time on documentation and paperwork than on patient care,” said Anthropic’s Chief Product Officer Mike Krieger.

For them, filing documents is more of an administrative task than one requiring special training and expertise. Therefore, the process should be automated, according to the AI company.

People are increasingly relying on LLM for medical matters. OpenAI reported that 230 million people discuss health with ChatGPT weekly.

Back in September 2025, researchers from Harvard Medical School introduced an AI model capable of identifying precise combinations of genes and drugs to reverse pathological conditions in human cells.
