China Leads the ‘Robot Race’

In 2025, Unitree Robotics delivered over 5,500 humanoid robots.

In 2025, the Chinese company Unitree Robotics delivered over 5,500 humanoid robots to clients. The firm ramped up production ahead of its stock market debut, reports SCMP, citing sources.

The Hangzhou-based company shipped more full-sized bipedal bots to customers than American competitors such as Tesla, Figure AI, and Agility Robotics combined, who each delivered 150 units.

Unitree’s annual production exceeded 6,000 units, excluding deliveries and development of wheeled models and other robotic products.

In 2025, the company emerged as the leader among the top humanoid robot manufacturers in the country. Although some reports place AgiBot at the top of the global market in terms of shipments, the firm distributed over 5,000 units and earned $142 million.

Omdia estimated Unitree’s shipments at 4,200, assigning it a market share of 32%. Counterpoint believes the firm holds 26.4% with sales of 4,224 units.

Shenzhen-based manufacturers UBTech Robotics and Leju Robotics secured third and fourth places with market shares of 5.2% and 4.9%, respectively. Elon Musk’s Tesla ranked fifth with 4.7%.

The data indicates the dominance of Chinese manufacturers in the industry, as American competitors are in the early stages of mass production.

Tesla is constructing an assembly line for one million Optimus units, expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

Robot Boom

A new report by Counterpoint Research revealed that in 2025, China accounted for more than four out of five humanoid robots sold.

A total of 16,000 bots were delivered worldwide, primarily used for data collection and research, as well as in logistics, manufacturing, and the automotive industry.

The research firm forecasts that by 2027, more than 100,000 units will enter the market—six times the 2025 figures.

“In the next two years, more companies developing humanoid robots will begin commercializing serial versions, and productivity will largely determine the pace of development for the entire industry,” noted Counterpoint.

Back in November 2025, China’s National Development and Reform Commission stated that a bubble might be forming in the country’s humanoid robot market.
