Groq Secures $650 Million Following Nvidia Deal

AI chip developer Groq plans to raise $650 million from existing investors to expand its cloud business following a December deal with Nvidia. According to Axios, the deal was valued at $20 billion and involved the transfer of some Groq executives to Nvidia and the licensing of its hardware technologies. As reported by TechCrunch, citing Axios, investors Disruptive and Infinitium are prepared to close the round if necessary.

Investor Highlights New Quantum Threat to Bitcoin

Early quantum technology investor Andrew Gault stated that the primary risk to Bitcoin infrastructure is not the hacking of wallet keys, but rather the interception of encrypted traffic between exchanges, custodians, and banks using a "collect now, decrypt later" scheme. Meanwhile, Google has planned a transition to post-quantum cryptography by 2029.

Celsius Founder Seeks to Overturn 12-Year Fraud Sentence

Alex Mashinsky, the founder and former CEO of Celsius, has filed a motion in court to overturn his 12-year prison sentence, citing ineffective defense, a conflict of interest with attorneys from Mukasey & Young LLP, and the application of the "fruit of the poisonous tree" doctrine. In his appeal, he also linked Celsius's losses to alleged actions by Sam Bankman-Fried involving CEL and stETH tokens. Mashinsky had previously pleaded guilty to securities fraud charges.

According to TradingView, Stellar led the daily growth in the crypto market with a 31.56% increase. Following were Audiera (+18.84%), Lighter (+17.09%), Injective (+16.88%), and Monero (+15.01%). Meanwhile, Genius Terminal (-23.37%), Pendle (-7.31%), Plasma (-6.71%), and NEAR Protocol (-6.56%) were among the decliners. In terms of market capitalization, Bitcoin leads with $1.47 trillion, followed by Ethereum ($242.98 billion), USDT ($188.25 billion), BNB ($89.17 billion), XRP ($83.37 billion), and USDC ($75.98 billion).
