A 1-million-BTC transaction, Dogecoin to the Moon, and Teletubbies’ crypto: April Fool’s digest
On 1 April, cryptocurrency companies seize the opportunity to amuse the public with a variety of jokes. It seems this is the only day of the year when the ‘shocking news’ brings a genuine smile and does not lead to a fall in Bitcoin’s price.
ForkLog has compiled the most notable April Fool’s publications.
A CryptoBull user reported on Twitter a transaction of 1 million BTC (about $59 billion at the time of writing).
On a normal day this would undoubtedly spark panic in the market, but such a sum is not yet held by any hodler — although Satoshi might have something to say. The richest Bitcoin address today belongs to the Binance exchange. It holds 143,528 BTC.

Speaking of Binance, the exchange published a spoof news piece about two-year-old Amelia, who easily bought cryptocurrency worth €40,000 from her father’s smartphone. This was made possible by the app’s “simplified trading mode.”
“It looks like we might have gone too far,” commented Binance’s CEO, Changpeng Zhao.
According to the story, Amelia avoided her parent’s wrath as Bitcoin’s price rose significantly overnight. The proud father pledged to hodl the crypto until his daughter heads to college.

In Zhao’s own Twitter account, he admitted that he is thinking about buying fiat with 1 BTC.
I am thinking of buying 1 #BTC worth of fiat. 🤔
Not financial advice. And happy April Fools!

The crypto market’s most conspicuous disruptor, Elon Musk, did not miss a chance to rattle things on his Twitter, though dates seem unimportant to him. The head of SpaceX shared plans to literally send Dogecoin to the Moon.

Only the Teletubbies could outdo the cuteness of Doge. On April 1 they announced the creation of an innovative cryptocurrency, TubbyCoin, built on HugTech. It can be mined via virtual hugs with the coin’s hashtag.
The TubbyCoin BigHugs! Token, an official Teletubbies cryptocurrency made with special HugTech from WildBrain Labs is here. For every like, share, comment of #TubbyCoin, the TubbyCoin becomes more valuable! Let’s take it to the moon. 🚀: https://t.co/CZJn5R7NI9 pic.twitter.com/B1Nt8OjFXe
— Teletubbies (@TeletubbiesHQ) April 1, 2021
“After that, relax and let HugTech do the rest. TubbyCoin grows in price, gathering good vibes from how cute you are,” says the announcement.
Despite the apparent absurdity of the project, the Teletubbies’ creators have imbued it with a charitable undertone. The brand owners will donate $5,000 to Canada’s Kids Help Phone. For every social-media post with the hashtag #TubbyCoin, the donation will rise by $1, up to $10,000. What tubby-pies!
And at last we have our moment! The only day when Peter Schiff can admit he was wrong about Bitcoin.
I was wrong about #Bitcoin.

The company teamed up with former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas, who in early 2021 lost access to hundreds of bitcoin wallets.
Each player will be given ten attempts to guess the six-digit code from the digital wallet. The first three winners will receive $25,000 in Bitcoin each, the next 50 participants – $500 in crypto, and 10,000 people after them – one free burrito each.
And on a serious note. As of today, the star of the documentary series Tiger King, Jeff Lowe, announced the start of the sale of the eponymous NFT collection. It includes 100 exclusive collectible cards and premium 3D figurines featuring Joe Exotic. The auction will run until April 4 on the Rarible marketplace.
Conclude the roundup with a tweet from the Blockfolio app:
The only April Fools joke today is the one you’re telling yourself for not owning any Bitcoin.
